How To Prevent A Fireplace Disaster: 3 Tips

December 21st, 2010 Comments off

Relaxing beside the cozy corner of a fireplace is really comfortable. A fireplace keeps you and your sweet home, warm. But you should take proper care of the fireplace so that it does not cause any accident. Here are some tips to help you out in this regard.

  • The first thing that you should do to keep your fireplace safe; is to keep it uncluttered. Don’t store unwanted things near the fireplace because sparks often come out when woods burns inside the fireplace. From this spark, a fatal disaster can happen.
  • A fire screen is must to prevent the sparks and embers from coming out. It is also helpful when the fire dies down and excessive smoke comes out. It saves you from the smoke that may cover the house. A glass door can be used for the same reason. But keep one thing in mind; don’t close the glass door totally when the fire is burning brightly because without oxygen supply, the fire will die down.
  • Inside a fireplace never use coal. The reason is that, the temperature generated from coal is too high and may cause uncontrollable fire. Always use logs inside the fireplace and buy seasoned fireplace logs from reputed shop. But remember to extra fire logs away from the direct fire. You can also keep a firewood rack for this purpose. Many may consider that to be a luxury, but in reality it is rather needed in a house that has log fireplace. Arrange extra firewood logs on the rack so that they don’t fall on the fire.

If you follow these tips, you will be safe from any fireplace disaster.

Timeless Beauty – Crafted in both traditional heritage design, and a new contemporary look, both add a pleasing aesthetic beauty to any room. Because their warmth is generated by burning wood, they can work continuously to provide heat in spite of any power failure caused by seasonal storms.

Lower Utility Costs – As a way to reduce utility bills, wood can be purchased, accumulated, stacked and storedthroughout the year. Continually burning wood as an alternative source of energy, it is always ready for use on cold winter days and nights. Strategically placing the stove in the most advantageous location in the house can provide optimal heat for all interior areas.

3 Ways You Can Experience the Joys of the Cold Winter Months

December 21st, 2010 Comments off

There is nothing like traveling to a little cozy country inn and restaurant during snowy winters to spend the holidays with family and friends. Many quaint little towns have the whole village decorated for the season. At night, the holiday lights twinkle in the reflection of the snow, up and down the streets.

Trips like these offers a very inviting intimate time that makes you feel so close to the ones you care for. Over the years, I have come to know specifically what I enjoy the most about the experience.

Radiating Light and Heat – On cold nights, thesights and sense of heat and light generated from the fireplace create a cozy ambience that is hard to match. Our room at the Inn has its own individual stovepipe fireplace. Every night, with the light radiating from the fire, we fall asleep watching the shadows of the room dance across the walls.

The Sounds of Friendship – I enjoy the laughter from old friends as we sit in the dining room with each other in the dining hall at the Inn. We always sit at the table closest to the fireplace, where we can keep warm and watch the snow falling outside.

The Smell of the Season – Holiday times are all about coming together to enjoy the food and drink, unique to the cold winter months. Hearty foods, rich with strong aromas, and prepared to keep you warm, are served up at the Inn each evening.

It is the little things in life, like the warmth from the fireplace, the sounds of laughter and a hearty meal, which makes for the best memories. It is a feeling that never goes away.
