2012 Beetle Debuts at Chapman Volkswagen in Scottsdale

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) October 25, 2011

The third-generation of the internationally beloved Beetle is ready for prime time, and is on sale now at Chapman Volkswagen. There are two models offered: the Beetle and the sporty Turbo.

“Customers at our Scottsdale Volkswagen dealership are most impressed with the Volkswagen Beetle’s masculine styling and larger cabin,” said Rolland Schreiber, General Manager Chapman Volkswagen.

Pricing and Features

The 2012 Beetle, which has a starting MSRP of $ 18,995, comes standard with a split folding rear seat, aux-in for portable audio players, a leather steering wheel, unique and customizable 17-inch alloy wheels, and an eight-speaker audio system. Desirable options include an additional glovebox that is similar to that of the original Beetle, Bluetooth® technology, iPod® connectivity, heated front seats, three-color interior ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, the Fender® Premium Audio System, and leatherette seating surfaces.

The Beetle Turbo with the six-speed manual transmission will have a starting MSRP of $ 23,395, with the option of Volkswagen’s DSG© dual-clutch automatic transmission. It takes the standard equipment found on the Beetle and adds: Bluetooth® technology; iPod® connectivity; three-color ambient lighting; larger brakes with red calipers; additional glovebox; sport seating surfaces; 18-inch alloy wheels; a rear spoiler; foglights; three additional gauges on the dashboard; and alloy pedals.

The 21st Century Beetle’s styling, ergonomics and quality interact to create a new, friendly car with a highly individual nature. The shape and use of color for the painted or carbon-look dashboards harkens back to the design of the first Beetle.

“Its interior design is as unique as it is unmistakable, and very much a Beetle design, just like the car’s exterior styling,” said Schreiber.

Engines and Transmissions

The Beetle offers two engines and transmissions: the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic and the 2.0-liter TSI® turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the acclaimed DSG® six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Five- and six-speed manual transmissions will be offered at a later date on the 2.5L and Turbo models respectively.

The dual-overhead-cam, 20-valve, 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine makes 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy values are improved by up to 10 percent over prior 2.5-liter models. When outfitted with the six-speed automatic transmission, the EPA estimated fuel economy rating is 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

The Turbo uses Volkswagen’s award-winning dual-overhead-cam, 16-valve, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. With the DSG® automatic transmission, it offers an EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 30 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg city.

Safety and Security

The starting point in the Beetle’s safety armory is a very rigid body structure that uses ultra-high-strength, hot-formed steels in the crash-load paths and seamless laser welds. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is standard, as are driver and front passenger airbags and Side Curtain Protection® airbags in front and rear. The Beetle includes Volkswagen’s advanced Intelligent Crash Response System that shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and switches on the hazard lights if the car is involved in certain types of collision.

The 21st Century Beetle is also covered under the no-charge Carefree Maintenance Program. All scheduled maintenance is covered for the length of the New Vehicle Warranty—three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Additionally, all current Volkswagen vehicles use synthetic oil, which, when combined with state-of-the-art German engineering, eliminates the need for a 5000-mile oil change, and allows owners to go farther between scheduled oil changes.

About Chapman Scottsdale Volkswagen

Chapman Volkswagen offers great low prices and incentives on new and used Volkswagen cars and SUVs. The dealership features a Volkswagen service center with factory-trained technicians, full Volkswagen accessories and Volkswagen parts departments, and a complete inventory of new and used VW vehicles. At Chapman Scottsdale Volkswagen, consumers get the best bottom line price in town.

Same as using a hair dryer. The moisture is absorbed and dissipates. This is why people buy humidifiers for the winter period.

Deck the Halls: Expert Advice on Holiday Decorations and Preparations

Vacation keeps Christmas trees fresh and green throughout the holiday season. Just mix one bottle with a gallon of water and pour the solution into the tree stand reservoir.

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) October 20, 2011

The Holiday Season is fast approaching, so it’s time to deck the halls and decorate the house. The “holiday elves” at http://www.naturehills.com have searched all over the globe to find the newest and coolest home décor and festive trimmings to help usher in the most wonderful time of the year. The selections range from a new way to keep Christmas trees fresh to solar-powered holiday lights.

Keep Christmas Trees Fresh and Green

The smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree infuses a home with holiday spirit, and the beauty of a real tree still cannot be matched by artificial trees. Unfortunately, a fresh tree can require daily watering or it will dry out quickly inside a heated home.

With just one application, a new product called Vacation will keep a Christmas tree fresh throughout the holiday season. Simply mix one 8-oz. bottle of Vacation with one gallon of water and pour the solution into the tree stand reservoir. Once the solution is absorbed through the trunk, Vacation will keep the tree green with less needle drop for up to three to four weeks. (Vacation can also be used on poinsettias and other potted plants.) An 8-ounce bottle of vacation sells for about $ 14 at garden centers, hardware stores or online at naturehills.com.

Santa Advent Calendar

For more than 100 years, advent calendars have delighted children as they await the arrival of Santa Claus. The playful and functional Santa Advent Calendar comes equipped with 24 hanging ornaments—one for every day in December leading up to Christmas Day. Store the ornaments in Santa’s sleigh, and then each day one more ornament can be hung up on the tree. This wonderful advent calendar is constructed of high-quality wood and finely decorated for years of use. In fact, the Santa Advent Calendar is sure to become a treasured family tradition. $ 59.99 from naturehills.com.

Snowman Mosaic Lantern

The loveable snowman has gone high tech. The Color-changing Snowman Mosaic Lantern is cheery and festive during winter days, but at night he really shines. When night time rolls around, simply turn the mosaic snowman over and turn on the built-in LED light. The mosaic tiles will light up Mr. Snowman, and the bright LED will illuminate with a palette of slowly changing colors. Experience the warm glow of the color-changing Snowman Mosaic Lantern in any room of the house as a nightlight or decoration. Handcrafted with mosaic tiles, the color-changing Snowman is finished with iron top hat, complete with a lantern handle. Great for holiday décor, and it makes a great gift for those hard-to-buy-for relatives or friends. $ 34.95 from http://www.naturehills.com.

Solar Christmas Lights

The festive look of holiday lighting is now possible without the need for electrical outlets and ugly extension cords. Solar Christmas Lights use ultra-efficient LED lights, not old-fashioned incandescent bulbs. Solar Light Strands save energy because they are powered by the sun. They offer lots of design options, such as lighting up a tree that is hundreds of feet from the nearest electrical outlet. LED Solar Light Strands come in two lengths, 50 or 102 bright LEDS. Each strand has seven (7) different blinking settings. These lights are attractive enough to leave them up all year for patio and deck accents. Available in warm white, red, blue and green. Other Holiday Coasters are also available, including a classic Holiday Wreath and a stylish Christmas Tree. A set of four coasters sells for $ 35.95 at naturehills.com.

It doesn’t get easier than that. Made of sturdy metal, this reusable pot cover will last for years and years. The Holiday Pot Cover measures 7.75″ in diameter. $ 19.99 at naturehills.com.

Christmas Wren Feeder

Don’t forget your feathered friends this holiday season. The cheerful Christmas Wren Feeder is a fully functional hanging feeder that is perfect for any backyard. The Christmas Wren Feeder features a pine roof, shuttered windows, removable decorative wreath and scrollwork bottom. The slide-up roof makes it a snap to pour in the seed of your choice. Remodeling? Consider The Benefits and Beauty of GLASS RECYCLED’s Eco-Friendly Kitchen Countertop Options

Glass Recycled creates stunning countertops and more that are durable and eco-friendly

Plano, Texas (PRWEB) October 18, 2011

If you are considering remodeling your kitchen, you have most likely found it to be a daunting task. There are so many options as well as prices, not to mention the likely addition of new appliances, cabinets, flooring, etc. One of the biggest decisions the overall project evolves around is what kind of kitchen countertops to use.

Granite, marble, tile, and a number of other natural and synthetic materials come to mind. But did you know that there is a choice for your kitchen remodel that is not only stunning, but cost-effective and eco-friendly as well? GLASS RECYCLED, a Texas-based company, is manufacturing a material called GlassSLAB that uses discarded glass, mirror and porcelain chips to produce a material that is helping save the environment one kitchen at a time.

This process of using recycled material and recreating it into new uses – or ‘upcycling’ – is quickly becoming a trend in many new construction and remodeling projects around the world.

“What makes GlassSLAB so appealing is the ability to custom creates any design that can be imagined,” stated Tim Whaley – who invented and patented this process. “First, we have a number of glass, porcelain, mirror and mother of pearl colors, and varying sizes of each. Then we can combine it with a custom epoxy to match virtually any paint color. The result is a kitchen countertop surface that is as durable as granite but is heat and scratch resistant, does not require a seal and does not emit any potentially toxic volatile organic compounds.”

GlassSLAB can be made to any specified size and shape for your kitchen countertop, bathroom, utility room, gameroom bar and more. Installation is easy and can be performed by anyone familiar with traditional granite or tile installations.

If you are open to looking into remodeling details that are friendly to the environment, consider a few factors. First, think about what is being demolished, and check with your local city waste department to find out which pieces can be recycled. Old cabinets, flooring, sinks, etc. are ideal candidates. Taking the time to do this alleviates these items just going to the city dump and will give you the satisfaction of doing your part. Then consider items you can incorporate into your new design that also help the environment – ecologically friendly paint, GLASS RECYCLED kitchen countertops, energy-saving appliances, etc. Also seek out professionals that are knowledgeable and experienced in this field.

Keep in mind that even little things can make a big impact. Did you know the average GLASS RECYCLED kitchen countertop ‘upcycles’ 750 discarded glass bottles and jars? Considering it takes 100 million years for them to totally decompose, imagine the stress-relief on landfills to make better use of these materials by giving them new life in your home. After your GlassSLAB kitchen remodel, not only will you have the most beautiful and unique surface in your neighborhood, but the satisfaction of knowing you have really done something to protect the future of Planet Earth.

Visit the GLASS RECYCLED website at glassrecycled.com or call 888.523.7894 for more information on their various recycled glass products for commercial and residential use and be sure to go to the sites’ exclusive Design Gallery gives you the opportunity to custom create a sample to help begin your kitchen remodel process.

USA-Scandinavia.com now offer help to Scandinavians who want to do Christmas shopping in USA

USA-Scandinavia.com now offer help to Scandinavians who want to do Christmas shopping in USA

Oceanside, California, USA (PRWEB) October 18, 2011

With the Christmas season soon upon us, online shopping service USA-Scandinavia.com is already seeing a rapid increase in orders.

“Since we’ve been in business 4 years now, each Christmas season gets busier and busier”, saysowner Bente Fajardo. “The majority of our orders come from repeat customers, so the order volume gets bigger each year. Lately we have sold more Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nike clothing and shoes than ever before, so we’re looking forward to a great season.”

Acting as “personal shoppers” for Scandinavians, USA-Scandinavia.com receives “wishlists” from their clients overseas. Then they find the best deals in America, purchase the items, and send them back to their customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland. The result is big savings for their clients, since the items are so much cheaper in America, not to talk about the selection. Demand for their service has been so great, they recently expanded to Japan.

“Last week, one of our clients bought 5 pairs of Levis Jeans, for $ 35 a pair. Since the same pair was going for $ 130 in Norway, our clients saved over $ 300 (after shipping and taxes).” added Fajardo. “They love using our service, because not only do they save money on the clothes, but they don’t have to drive around looking for the items. Gas in Scandinavia is very expensive, and usually costs about $ 8 dollars per gallon.”

With gas and heating prices so high, smart Scandinavian customers will do more Christmas shopping online from their living rooms this season. If you’d like a nice pair of pajamas from Victoria’s Secret for Mom, a new sweater from Ralph Lauren for Dad, or some cool skate clothes for the kids from Tilly’s, visit USA-Scandinavia.com.

Is it more efficient to operate a central heating system than a space heater?

October 31st, 2011 Comments off

Question by Marshall J: Is it more efficient to operate a central heating system than a space heater?
I heard today in my school that operating a central heating system is more efficient to heat my room with a electric space heater that uses 1kW/hr. Also, they said that these heaters usually contain carcinogens. Can anyone point me to reliable sources on which are true? (Our central heating is zoned also, don’t know if that will help)

Best answer:

Answer by George
If you have zoned HVAC then it is most likely the cheapest way to heat your house because you can choose different temperatures for different rooms. If your just trying to heat one room then it may be better to use a space heater. Carsinogens? Well it will depend on the type of space heater. An electric space heater with exposed coils that can easily catch things on fire is really not the way to go. The new ceramic heaters are nice because they have a fan that can help circulate the heat, or an oil space heater is alright but they don’t have a fan so they take a little more time to heat a room. Both these types are safe.

Q&A: How many estimates should I get on a new heating and cooling system for my house?

Question by Lisa B: How many estimates should I get on a new heating and cooling system for my house?
Our heating system is about 21 or 22 years old… I know, we were living on borrowed time. I have made 2 appointments so far. How many more? Or is the 2 enough. We have a smaller house, less than 1500 sq ft. Thanks!

Answer by annabel m
I would always go for 3 for a big job like this, you may be surprised at the difference prices offered. But only invite companies to quote who belong to the relevant trade association, and who can offer testimonials.

Q&A: How can I childproof a heating floor register?

October 30th, 2011 Comments off

Question by sal: How can I childproof a heating floor register?
We are renting an old house and the only heating is from a grate in the living room floor. We have a baby gate around it,but my 11 month old keeps throwing toys over the gate. If I don’t catch them in time, it gets hot enough for them to melt. Does anyone know what I can use to cover it that will let the heat through, not be hot enough to melt things or cause burns, and not be burnt or melted itself? At this point, I don’t care if it’s ugly, just pet, child and toy safe.

Best answer:

Answer by Whisperer
First of all for your safety, if plastic toys melt coming in contact with the register grate you have a fire hazard on your hands. This grate should not get this hot but only warm to the touch. I feel you should address this issue first hand.
Simply adding another metal grate to the top of the existing one won’t solve the problem. You should barrier off the area around the “hot register” before you have a serious problem with toxic fumes in the house caused by melting plastic.
The easiest thing that comes to my mind is to set a wire pet cage on top of the hot register. You can get one of these at a pet store. This will allow the heat to escape and yet keep other things away from the hot grate. Then, later on you may have a pet and want to use the cage or what ever. Wire the cage to the register so it can’t be moved. Good luck!

Question by Tornado: Can I have a different company fill my home heating propane tank?
I have a home heating propane tank that is owned by one company. Their minimum requirements is above what I have to spend right at the moment. There is another company that provides propane about $ .20 per gallon cheaper, and their minimum fill requirements are lower.

Can I have this more affordable company fill my tank even though it is owned by another?

Thanks all!
I also forgot to add that I am renting this house and property.

Unless you have a written contract with them, I don’t see why not. You could try calling your own company without saying who you are and saying, can you match a competitor, or else I’ll have them fill your tank at my house, to see what they say.

Is it safe to fall asleep with a heating pad on?

Question by Sage: Is it safe to fall asleep with a heating pad on?
My apartment isn’t insulated and I can’t afford heat/hot water. My electric heater is barely working and wearing layers doesn’t seem to be helping. It’s about 20 degrees outside as well.I have been using a heating pad in bed for heat, but never fell asleep with it. I think it automatically shuts off when it reaches a certain temp., does it make it safe?

I think its safe, but still, for maximum safety, turn it off.

How Selecting Fujitsu Heat Pumps Is Economical

October 24th, 2011 Comments off

The Fujitsu Heat Pumps have been used to heat homes for a very long time and are also similar to other heat systems. There’s however, one distinct difference, the regular systems employ duct work and registers to pull heat into rooms while Fujitsu heat pumps hire a air manager placed in each room which is to be heated.

The ducted heating systems are to a point wasteful since duct work is often leaky and frequently situated in the attic or basement area. The

Renewable Energy Sources For Heating Buildings

It’s never been more vital for buildings to be heated with natural sources of energy than right now. Fuel pricing is subject to increases and carbon dioxide by-products certainly are a serious issue. Lowering energy usage and expenses are an increasing priority for many. The good news is that lots of houses can utilise things such as triple glazing, ground-source and air-source heat pumps, solar panel systems and wood burning stoves in order to save both the natural

What are the pros and cons of having two heating systems in a house?

Question by Heather: What are the pros and cons of having two heating systems in a house?
I am looking to buy a 4000 sq ft house that has 2 heating systems in it. Each one is for half the house. What are the pros and cons of having two heaters?

Best answer:

Answer by Darby
That seems to be quite common in the new 2 story homes. I guess a con would be the initial cost of the 2 systems and the preventive maintenance costs and replacements costs–I’m assuming heat pumps. Pro would be that the main living area can be warmer and the sleeping are cooler; more control over the overall temp of the house. I guess it would be more expensive to run two systems as opposed to one, but there is no requirement to run both of them, with the hopes that the hot air will rise and the cool are will fall.

Has any one ever used a Heat pump to heat hot water for space heating?

October 22nd, 2011 1 comment

Question by Geoff S.: Has any one ever used a Heat pump to heat hot water for space heating?
Can an “Air source Heat Pump” be used to heat hot water for “Baseboard Hot Water” space heating. Also has anyone put a “Sterling Engine” in between the hot and cold side of a heat pump to generate power for the system?

Best answer:

Answer by Oscar
Both would be inefficient. A sterling motor does not have much torque therefore does not have enough power to make enough electricity to be of much help. Also the hot air from a heat pump would have to continuously be on to heat up the water to make any difference in the temperature. Water is denser than air that is why it would take so much to make it work.
